Our story

Retro Film Emulator started with a simple frustration. We wanted the warm, grainy, light-leaked look of real film — but every filter app wanted a subscription, stamped our photos with a watermark, or uploaded our images to a server we didn't trust. The film look had become a paywall, and that felt wrong.

So we built the opposite: a film lab that runs entirely in your browser. The curves are real pixel math, the grain reacts to brightness the way silver halide crystals do, and the light leaks are composited layer by layer on a canvas. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is watermarked, and nothing expires after a free trial.

What we believe

  • Privacy is architecture, not a policy. If your photo never leaves your device, there is nothing to leak.
  • Free means free. The core lab and full-resolution exports stay unlimited. A future membership only adds new presets and batch export.
  • Authenticity is earned. Every preset is tuned against real film behavior and verified on sample photos — not a one-click Instagram filter.
  • Tools should be beautiful. A darkroom is a place you want to spend time in; the interface should feel the same.

How the site earns its keep

We keep the lab free through advertising (Google AdSense) and a future optional membership for power users. Advertising revenue pays the hosting; the membership will fund weekly preset development. Neither will ever touch the tools you already use — that is a promise we wrote into the product from day one.

  • 真实靠挣来。每个预设都按真实胶卷行为调校、用样张验证——不是一键式 Instagram 滤镜。
  • 工具应该好看。暗房是一个你想待下去的地方；界面也应该如此。

网站如何维持运营

我们通过广告（Google AdSense）与未来可选的进阶会员维持免费实验室。广告收入支付托管；会员将支持每周预设的开发。两者都不会碰你已经在用的功能——这是我们从第一天就写进产品里的承诺。
